Minister Demircan: Turkey Is Under Attack by Drug Traffickers

“Turkey is under attack from drugs”

Demircan, who also touched on efforts related to substance abuse, noted that the High Council for the Fight Against Drugs—the top-level body on drug-related issues—includes eight ministers and a deputy prime minister.

Noting that the issue of drugs is a sensitive one, Demircan said, “I perceive it as a threat to Turkey. It seems as though Turkey has been targeted by terrorist organizations and certain forces when it comes to drugs. We are seeing efforts being made to spread drugs in Turkey. To prevent this, the state is working with all its institutions to do its part,” he said.

Demircan stated that the ministries have taken the necessary measures and that the Ministry of Health is also working to treat people suffering from drug addiction.
